Even though she calls herself Madame de Sade and dolls herself up in fetish wear when going to court Terri-Jean Bedford’s challenge to Canada’s treatment of sex workers seems sensible and just.
Terri-Jean Bedford, who calls herself the most famous dominatrix in Canada, is asking the Canadian government to rethink the treatment of sex work in the criminal code. She and two colleagues filed a constitutional challenge before the Ontario Superior Court, saying that prostitutes endanger themselves working on the street.
Her fame appears to be based on a high profile 1994 bust. But such fame is fleeting.

Making it tougher on women who work indoors - in professional brothels = seems exceptionally foolish:
“The safest and happiest period in my life was when I was up in Thornhill, running the (bondage) service from my house,” she said.
“I just want them to know that indoors is much safe from outdoors, from my own experiences.”

“I have worked in all aspects of the sex trade and I have made every mistake possible. I know the good, the bad and the ugly and I know that bawdy houses are safer than being on the street.”
