However, he dropped a bid to change the law after Justice Secretary Kenny MacAskill and other MSPs said lifting the threat of prosecution could provide a loophole for those charged with domestic abuse and sex crimes.

Then write the law intelligently and realistically. I suspect that it is discomfort with kink and fetish than worry about abused spouse that is at work here.

British Board of Film Classification has rejected a movie starring fetish actress Niki Flynn, NF713, for being realistically disturbing. They claim the physical and psychological torture depicted required this action because of a UK law forbids films that might - somehow - put the watcher at risk.

The BBFC deem it to be a “sex work”, and defending their decision to reject it last Friday, they explain that their strict policy is not to issue classification to such works if they depict non-consensual sexual activity (whether real or simulated).

The British nanny-state wants to forbid movies showing behavior that might cause harm if duplicated, e.g.,:

One instance was in Bee Movie, featuring the voice of Jerry Seinfeld, which involved an incident where an aerosol was set alight.

Logic like this if carried out honestly - in non-erotic contexts - would affect all action and adventure movies. But of course it doesn’t. Really this is just vanilla prudishness.

Peter Hayes claims the Vancouver Police Department denied him the permit needed to drive as a chauffer because of his kinky sexuality. Now a Canadian tribunal will adjudicate the matter.

The VPD tried to stop the tribunal from hearing the case on the grounds that the BC Human Rights Code doesn’t protect BDSM players from discrimination. Both the BC Supreme Court and the Court of Appeal dismissed the VPD’s argument and sent the case back to tribunal for a hearing.

Shakir Rashaan’s New BDSM Series

African-American author Shakir Rashaan breaks into the literary world with his debut novel which encompasses the eroticism of BDSM and publishing it on Lulu.com, the online marketplace for digital content. Mr. Rashaan took the opportunity to write his 250-plus page erotica novel Chronicles of the Nubian Underworld: The Awakening while using his downtime between work and his college studies at the University of Phoenix-Online.
