Gene Simmons' Dominatrix
» BDSM in Popular Culture
The title character is sure to offend dominant women (pace Bitchy Jones) who resent the stereotypical ProDomme image. (And perhaps a few professional dominatrices as well.) But appeal to the kind of guys who dream of nights in the Other World Kingdom.
How to describe Gene Simmons’ Dominatrix? Well, according to series writer, Sean Taylor, Dominatrix is Dark Angel meets Crimes of Passion meets Mary Tyler Moore as re-envisioned by David Lynch and Chris Carter. In other words, a hot chick in a tight, skimpy leather outfit kicking ass and trying to uncover a secret plot to take over the U.S., all the while trying to get over her boredom with life in general, figure out her place in the world, and make a good, honest living by shackling her clients and flogging or caning them mercilessly.
Or, in the succinct-yet-apropos words of the series’ creator, Gene Simmons, it’s “T&A meets CIA.”

Comments
As the writer for the book, I’d ask readers to give the book a chance before making any judgments.
Early readers, and most of them women, usually finished the book telling me, “that’s not what I expected it to be.”
So, yeah it’s gonna be sexy, and it’ll pander to the comic book stereotype image of superhero women, but I’m hoping that it’ll be the story that draws in folks and keeps ‘em coming back.
Thanks and take care, Sean

I think folks in the kinky community are afraid the comic book will show stereotypical images of both BDSM and professional domination.

I think that this is exactly what people in the kink community are afraid of. BDSM and D/s already get a pretty bad rap; in the media the characters are usually played for laughs, and the women are always 28 year old nymphs, and men are 48 years old and paunchy.
Those of us who are 48 and trim are beginning to get bored with it all.
