Breath Play Session Fatality?

Reports are pretty sketchy. The deceased former anti-drug activist’s corpse was found bound and wearing a plastic mask of the sort that might be used for breath play.

As far as I know there are no statistics. But my impression from following this stuff in the news for years is that breath play sessions gone wrong are probably the most common source of fatality from BDSM sessions.

The coroner has deemed Joe Konopka’s death as suspicious and officers are treating the case as a homicide, said Lt. John Murphy of the San Francisco police.

Konopka, 65, was found dead and bound with his face covered in plastic on Wednesday when someone called police from within the home at 544 Ashbury St. and then fled.

I’m very interested in breath play sessions, specifically those that result in fatality, the risks, etc. I would be very appreciative if you could point me in a direction for more research.
