I haven’t paid much attention to The Craiglist Experiment so I didn’t know there was a BDSM aspect. Violet Blue has written about it in her blog:
Ultimately, this is going to piss off a lot of people for a lot of reasons, and a high percentage of these guys’ lives are going to change in a major way. But I’ll argue that The Craigslist Experiment is an inevitable form of online natural selection. If you have something to lose, don’t do something that could make you lose it. And I also think that if our culture was made to feel less ashamed about sex, Jason’s results would be quite different.

Also I disagree with you that this is some form of natural selection. Nobody died out there. Most people in the world won’t know who these guys are. Even if they did and they cared, they could change their name. Nothing was selected.
I do think it was a very stupid thing for Jason to do. He is very lucky he did not do this to the wrong person. It’s mildly amusing but not very nice.
