Civil Rights, BDSM (and Gor)

» Fetish and the Law

In Vancouver Peter Hayes may have been refused a chauffeur’s license because he enjoys the special of BDSM play that has evolved around John Norman’s Gor series of fantasy novels (they started off as copies of Edgar Rice Burroughs John Carter of Mars but later incorporated fantasies of world where men ruled and most women were natural slaves).

Lindsay M. Lyster, who wrote the decision, said she wasn’t completely sure of the “precise nature of Mr. Hayes’ lifestyle, practices and preferences, nor the parties’ use of the term BDSM (to refer to bondage and discipline, domination and submission, sadism and masochism) or other related terms,” but it sounded like he had a legitimate beef.

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Civil Rights, BDSM (and Gor). Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard
