Ava Taurel, R.I.P.

» Personalities

Eva Norvind has passed away:

She also set herself up as dominatrix Ava Taurel. She became something of a spokesperson for the business and attracted much attention. Norvind styled herself a “psychosexual counsellor”, but she blamed media interest in sado-masochism for the emergence of more competition and a loss of business.

The article is a brief biographical sketch.

Actress and celebrity dominatrix; born May 7, 1944; died May 14, 2006

I was shocked and sad to learn of the death of a woman whom I admire. I met Ava in a graduate class in sexuality at NYU and invited her to speak in my sexuality grad classes at Columbia University. Students (and professors!) found her challenging, and yet discovered that she helped them to “demythologize” BDSM allowing them to see BDSM as part of the continuum of “ordinary” human sexual behavior.

Ava would also call me to help her with papers and ideas for research papers. Needless to say,I was very humbled by this!

Finally, Ava and I also shared a common spiritual journey. We often spoke of the connection of the spiritual and the erotic, another topic, like BDSM, that is still “controversial.” Well, Ava, the journey continues for you in another venue. Send some “enlightenment” to all of us who still journey here. I await the day when our journeys shall unite again! Peace to you, dear friend…

How do you feel?

Feel free to share your feelings about Ava Taurel, R.I.P.. Please stick to the theme of the entry. Disagreement is fine. Homophobia, racism, and kindred expressions of hatred will be deleted. This site is one of my hobbies. I genuinely enjoy hearing from people and hate moderating or killing comments. Forthright disagreement is fine as long as it is civil.
My thanks,
Richard
